As most of you know already, I have been living in Abu Dhabi for the past 6 years, and I get pretty excited every time I hear about a new restaurant opening in my locality – Mussafah. So when I had seen the coming soon boards in the Dalma Mall outlet about the Yellow Chilli, I had mentally made a note to visit as soon as it opens. But as it happens, my life’s been too busy for the past few months, with 2 trips to India, and a job change happening soon, accompanied by our move to Dubai, it simply didn’t happen. Yes. If you have been following me on Instagram, you know already I am moving to Dubai in few weeks time. Before we move, now I am up for cherishing all the lovely moments we get to spend in Abu Dhabi, our home for the past few years!
And Voila! This weekend when I was invited to try out this restaurant, I was so happy to try out the place.
We started off our meal on a Thursday evening, with Murgh Yakhni Shorba, a traditional Kashmiri style curd based Chicken soup spiked with Saffron. The soup was very warm and welcoming with a vague tint of Saffron flavour.
And then we further moved to our starters – Murgh Angar Bedgi and Chicken Chilli. Now I missed mentioning here. This outlet is also a combination of “The Yellow Chilli by Sanjeev Kapoor” and the “HongKong”. And the Chicken Chilli is from the Hong Kong. While I did not feel anything special about the Chicken Chilli, Murgh Angar Bedgi was full of flavor and perfect for the spice lovers.
Curries and Mains
We tried the Murgh Survedar a Chicken Curry flavoured with Black pepper and coriander, with the set of Rotis that were served. Personally, I would have loved it more if the curry was on the spicier side. This curry resembled Butter Chicken. But I was told, the customers have the option to ask for spicier version if that was their preference.
We were also served Classic Hakka Noodles along with Pepper chicken from the Hong Kong part of the restaurant. The Noodles was one of the best I have had at the price offered. The Pepper Chicken also went quite well as a combination with the Noodles.
Desserts and Winding up
Now, comes the best part of every meal. The Desserts. And I totally loved this Baked Yoghurt. You should definitely try this one.
And its said…
“A Chai makes everything better!”
And it did! Loved the way they served this Masala Cutting Chai!!
Ambience and service
The place had a very lovely ambience and very friendly staff. Mr. Shankar was our host for the day and he did a very good job in serving us and explaining in detail about each of the dishes. We also had a chance to meet the head Chef Chandan who was in charge of the Kitchen for the day. Overall the experience was very good and would totally recommend for everyone in Musaffah.
We were invited guests at the Restaurant. However, all opinions and photos are my own.
