Opera de Paris. That name sounds so rhythmic to me. Last weekend we went to have a sneak peek of their menu – “Opera de Paris” at The Dining Room – Jannah Burj Al Sarab, Abu Dhabi.

The recently appointed Executive Chef Wafi Halimi oversees the kitchen operations of this Five Star Hotel located along the Meena road in Abu Dhabi. His culinary focus is on French and Mediterranean cuisine and aims to marry traditional cooking concepts with his take on modern techniques.

With the small candle and lucky bamboo adorning our tables and a few lovely quotes on the glass panes on the wall, we slowly got ourselves settled in our seats. As always, dining out with our toddler includes a few cars and trucks on our tables. Over time, we have got used to the tantrums that might come up and have learned for good that less crowded places are easier for us to manage our boy. And this place had just a few guests, when we walked in, with a simple and welcoming ambiance to the interiors.

We were given the menu to make our choices. The menu – Opera De Paris is a 3-course meal.

As my throat wasn’t doing justice to me, I chose to have a Hot Cappuccino from the Beverages section. While my hubby and mom, chose lemonade.

While we were waiting for the Mains, we were served a Salad of very Fresh herbs. They tasted well with French Vinegar Salad dressing served along. However, I did feel that the leaves were a little too big to fit in my mouth. Had it been chopped, it would have been a bit more easier on us.

See how fresh those leaves are..

As for the Mains, the Main dishes were 3 options of the Angus Beef

  • Australian Angus Tenderloin steak
  • Australian Angus EntrecôteSteak
  • Australian Angus Sirloin Steak

The Steak…AED 130\-

The Beef tasted well when combined with the Sauces. But I wasn’t quite completely happy with it either. The areas without the Sauce sprinkled did not do quite well with us.

Another highlight of the Menu was Fresh Chicken Breast and Catch of the Day.

Cath of the Day !!! it indeed was!! – AED 95\-

The Catch of the Day was fresh Tilapia, steamed with minimal amount of spices topped with something like a French Butter Sauce. The meat was tender and tasted very fresh.

The Fresh Chicken Breast also turned  out quite well.

I was also pretty impressed that they served a little meal to my naughty one and it arrived before everything else. Yes! Never mess with the kids or keep them hungry for long, if you want to have a peaceful dinner. Right?

For the Naughty one.. (and his mom of course 😉 )

As for the Desserts, I am the Desserts person at home. And this time, I decided to go for a healthier version. I went for a Salade de Fruits. Quite unexpected, the fruit salad came with a little shell of chocolate in it. (Maybe they guessed how much Chocolate obsessed I am..just thinking) I totally loved the chocolate shell idea in it. The chocolate shell was only mildly sweetened and you could feel the real taste of cocoa in it. And when clubbed with the fruits, the chocolate blended perfectly, with the sweet and sour flavors from the fruits.

Overall, we were happy with the service and the food. The prices are not too high for a fine dining concept and here’s a place for a very peaceful dinner with family.
