So if you have been following me on Instagram, you know my growing interest for capturing those little precious moments of our everyday life. A casual everyday evening walk with my son behind our home, or a walk in the park, or those rare moments we walk hand in hand (maybe once in a Blue moon, we are that romantic after being Mommy and Daddy you see 😉 ) and every moments that I wish to remember forever. I love clicking them all.
Most of the time, its my Samsung E7, or my Sony Cyber shot that I carry around in my handbag to take those food shots at restaurants (well, yes! I am a foodie and all that looks tasty needs to be cherished too). But the most precious of it all for me is our Lil prince. Right from the time he was born, I would capture those precious moments of our everyday lives. However, now that he is a toddler, things have changed. He loves to run around and hates closed doors. He needs lots and lots of space to run. And this running means no Photography moments. It’s always the vague images that I get to click. I never get to click a smiling face of his.
I have always looked at those amazing photos of kids on the studio walls and wondered if I would ever be able to get a smiling pic of my boy. When I got invited to try the Family Photoshoot section at Picture People UAE, I was too skeptical if I should try. Although I was totally amazed seeing their works, I was wondering if my boy would bother to take a look at the photographer. How on earth would they get to click his pictures. I could never get him to sit somewhere without playing one of his favorite shows on a tablet (well, in that case you could get his to sit for long). But no way I want a professional photo of my son playing with his gadgets. I want those real happy faces of him with all the toddler energy.
But then I decided to give it a try. We scheduled our appointment at Picture People at 1 pm on last Friday. Yes I have told you about how we have this art of missing our way around in Dubai even when we have a GPS running right? So we missed an exit but somehow we reached Picture People by around 1.20. We loved the studio ambiance and we were asked to wait a bit. Both Daddy and Boy changed to their classic whites paired with blue jeans. Since it was all planned in a bit of a hurry, I couldn’t go buy a white outfit for myself. Nevertheless, I got to look a little different from the boys right? After all I the Supermom of the home (wink 😉 )
And yes, the tension was building up in me. Because my boy was already running around. While they were setting up the studio, I was pretty sure he wouldn’t let them get a proper shot of him. He was already busy exploring the mall outside the studio.
In less than 10 minutes, our set was ready and we were in. As soon as we closed the door of the studio room, he started screaming. All he wanted was to get out of the space. Our photographer was very patient and started handing him over different toys. At first he did not show any interest and slowly he was checking out all the new toys in store. He started getting interested in them. That was a big breath of relief for me. Then on things went on smooth. Oh my god. They really have their way working with kids. The next 15 minutes went on fabulous. We were all getting comfortable and were getting some of the best pictures clicked to cherish for a lifetime.
Loving this shot from @picturepeopleuae It's really a tough process to get my boy to sit and play. He is the kind of kid who wants to run around and explore new places. I had never in my dreams imagined to get a shot like this. Kudos to the Picture People team for their patience and creativity in working with the lil heroes… and I love his lovely white Tee we picked up from @gapkids and it goes well with the backgrounds..
After the photoshoot, within 10 minutes our photos were ready for viewing and I wished I could take them all with me. All of them they showed me were picture perfect shots of our family. By the time the Daddy was already busy running behind our son who had already reached the parking lot. So it was me who had to finally select the best 5 shots from the collection of already Best shots. Check out my Instagram and I will be sharing all those precious 5 shots once a while. Don’t forget to follow me 🙂
So the whole process took less than an hour and the major highlight of the experience being, the patience, tactics and creativity of the Picture People Team in working with Kids. Plus you get to take it all home the same day same time. All post processing done in less than 15 minutes. Wow.
